Scrubgrass Creek Valley

  1. This is the Hovis House on very private property. The place abounds with "posted" signs, but my traveling companion assured me that he knows the owners, and their sole intent is to keep vandals and ATV riders out. (But don't we all think that we're the exception?) Said companion wouldn't let me try to get inside, but I did peek in to see that he dining room floor has collapsed into the basement. I really like the patterned slate roof on this place. Because all of this land has been stripped, it was overrun with a hardy kind of teaberry--very minty after its long winter beneath the snowpack.

Of course, the Mobilgas Pegasus needs no introduction; I hadn't seen her in so many years. Scrubgrass Creek is a north-flowing tributary of the Allegheny River, near the Kennerdell outpost of Clear Creek State Forest.
